Using the DW Question & Answer Plugin with Thesis

Here are the additional configuration steps necessary to make DW Question & Answer work with Thesis 2:

  1. After activating the plugin, go to Settings → Permalinks and click the SAVE CHANGES button there. (This is so WP will recognize the custom URLs for the plugin’s pages.)

  2. In DW Q&A → Settings, make sure pages have been selected for Question List Page, Ask Question Page, and DWQA 404 Page.

Note: The plugin automatically creates pages for the Question List Page and Ask Question Page named DWQA Questions and DWQA Ask Question, respectively. I had already designated a custom 404 page in Thesis, so I selected that as the DWQA 404 Page.

  3. Edit the page which has been designated as the Question List Page (e.g., DWQA Questions), and add the following shortcode to its post content area:

  4. Edit the page which has been designated as the Ask Question Page (e.g., DWQA Ask Question), and add the following shortcode to its post content area:

  5. Go to Thesis → Manage Boxes and activate the DW Q&A Box.

  6. Use the Thesis Skin Editor to modify the Single → Question template as follows:

    • Add the DW Q&A Box to the WP Loop box.
    • Remove the Post Box (name may vary according to Skin).
    • Remove the Comments container box (name may vary according to Skin).
